Dont be used as tools of violence, youths advised

- By SIMON MUNTEMBA

YOUTHS in Zambia must take advantage of the government empowerment programmes to improve their living standards rather than being used as tools of violence by selfish politicians, Chinsali PF law maker Kalalwe Mukosa has said.

Addressing journalists at a PF interactive forum in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mukosa disclosed that the government has set aside K45 million under the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) and K48 million under the Ministry of youths for the skill and business development which young people must take advantage of to improve themselves financially.

Mr Mukosa said young people must avoid being used as tools of violence by selfish politicians as that can derail their future plans once arrested and convicted for criminal activities.

“The Development Bank of Zambia has also in stock about K50 million for SME which committed youths can access to better their lives.

So my advice to our young people as they celebrate their day tomorrow therefore is that, let them stay away from activities, including violence because if they do, they will find themselves in trouble.

Violence will only serve to derail their future plans,” Mr Mukosa said.

Meanwhile the Chinsali lawmaker has outlined a number of developmental projects, including the construction of township roads, bridges, network towers, schools and hospitals in his constituency.

He said that the construction of the hospital which has already taken shape and whose cost is estimated around K90 Million will bring quality health services nearer to the people.

Mr Mukosa further said the Muchinga general hospital will also serve people outside Chinsali district.

“Once the general hospital is completed, the people of Chinsali and indeed those from the surrounding districts will be helped a lot as they will no longer be referred to the UTH in Lusaka or the General Hospital in Kasama but will instead access the health services within and on time”, said Mr Mukosa

He added that the construction of two clinics out of the six which Chinsali is supposed to benefit from the 650 health post project across the country have been completed and are in full operational.

On water reticulation project, he said, once the project is done, the issue of water problems will be a talk of the past.

Mr Mukosa further disclosed that the upgrading of 26.6 kilometres of township roads in Muchinga have started stressing that the roads have been graded and that what was remaining is to tar them once the rain season comes to an end.
