- ELEMIYA PHIRI Lusaka.

Dear Editor,

The cold hand of death has once again robbed the journalism fraternity of its professionals.

This follows the demise of veteran and former Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) journalists, Chanda Chimba III and Dominic Chimanyika.

Both renowned journalists died on Friday March 9, 2018. Mr. Chimba died at Fairview Hospital after a long battle with prostate cancer, a disease to which he succumbed.

Mr. Chimanyika served at the national broadcaster, ZNBC in various capacities including that of senior Television producer.

He died at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after an illness.

Mr. Chimba was a seasoned journalist who became an advocate of prostate cancer after he established the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Zambia until the time of his death.

The late Chimanyika, another former employee of ZNBC served as sports producer and senior Television producer during his career.

The departed veteran journalists contributed immensely towards the development of the journalism career in Zambia and at ZNBC in particular

This is because these great sons mentored and trained many journalists at ZNBC, some of them are currently serving while others have since died.

The two departed journalists were household names in the field of journalism as they worked diligently, hence, leaving a legacy of good works which will ultimately outlive them.

Go well the scribes. Your passing on is sad. You served our beloved country with discipline and integrity by adhering to journalism ethics. May their souls rest in eternal peace.
