KABWATA Constituency Kamulanga Ward 9 Councillor, Jonas Phiri, has implored schools in his area to uphold hygienic standards.
Mr Phiri who at the weekend toured three schools, Lilayi Secondary and Primary and Kamulanga High school, said the purpose of his visit at the learning institutions was to encourage pupils to continue adhering to health guidelines as provided for by the Ministry of Health.
He donated four wheelbarrows, 10 brooms and 25 litres of disinfectants to help the schools carryout their cleaning activities, urged the school management not to relax in their cleaning efforts.
Mr Phiri observed that Lilayi Primary school was in dire need as it had 30 orphaned children and that some were in a special class.
He appealed to well-wishers to come to the vulnerable children at the school.
“I‘am appealing to well-wishers for help if they could donate just even clothes and shoes to these little children, ’said Mr Phiri.
Mr Phiri said the other aim of his tour was to check on the development activities taking place at the schools emanating from plans with area MP Given Lubinda.
Mr Phiri said leadership was about loyalty to the party and rendering a helping hand to the people in need.
