Counsel talkative politicians-Mwakalombe tells church
The Church needs to counsel politicians regarding some of the statements they issue to the public, says Copperbelt Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe.
Mr Mwakalombe urged the Church to scrutinize political leaders in the country whose utterances may result in the country losing its peace.
Speaking during a church service at Peoples Pentecostal Church in Ndola’s’ Itawa ward on Sunday, Mr. Mwakalombe advised politicians to be cautious in their statements.
“The peace that the country is enjoying today must not be taken for granted because it has been attained through prayer. It is imperative that politicians of today must not destroy the peace but the Church needs to counsel politicians regarding some of the statements they issue to the public, “he said.
And Mr Mwakalombe assured the congregates that government was putting in place policies to empower young people and enable them participate in the development of the country’s economy.
He said development in any developing country was dependent upon the population of young people who were a huge resource.
He pointed out that the foundation was critical and the church played a much bigger role to ensure that morals and values were inculcated.
He said for the country to develop, it required a disciplined human resource adding that it was the responsibility of the Church to mould young people by preparing them to take up various responsibilities in the agenda of developing the country.
“For the economy to growth, the country needs the youths. That is why the 7th National Development Plan (7NDP), gives youths access to quality education and provide skills that will enable them to participate in the economic development of the nation,” he said.
