Zambia woos more European investors

-

By PRINCE CHIBAWAH ZAMBIA has continued to attract foreign firms willing to invest in various sectors, Zambia’s ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita has said.

Mr Mukwita said the country was attracting the attention of potential investors in Europe due the economic diplomacy under President Edgar Lungu.

“The economic diplomacy under President Edgar Lungu is bound to yield benefits for the country as Zambia continues to attract the attention of potential investors in Europe,” said Mr Mukwita in statement issued to Daily Nation yesterday by his first press secretary, Kellys Kaunda.

Speaking in Munich enroute to Gdansk, Poland to attend an investment forum, Mr. Mukwita said invitations were still rolling into the embassy for Zambia to present her investment case to potential investors.

“In Poland, I am presenting several reasons why Zambia is a preferred investment destination,” the Zambian envoy said adding “it is Zambia’s time to attract the world to her borders”.

The event dubbed “Business Beyond Borders – Destination Africa” will be attended by several business houses in Poland at which the Zambian envoy is expected to argue in favour of investing in Zambia.

“We are delighted by the increasing interest in Zambia and excited by the development prospects for our country,” said Mr Mukwita.

Gdansk, the venue of the investment forum is a Polish city and seaport situated in Gdañsk Bay on the south coast of the Baltic Sea in Poland.

Known for many interesting attractions including tourism, Gdansk is going to play host to one of the most important business events on the calendar of the country.

Mr Mukwita’s theme paper is entitled “Why you must do business in Zambia.”

Zambia has begun doing business with Poland with URSUS, a Polish tractor manufacturing plant poised to open an assembly plant in Lusaka.
