UPND warns betrayers
… We know you are holding dark corner meetings to fight the MP
WE will soon flush out all those betrayers who are bringing confusion in the district by continuously fighting our Member of Parliament by spreading falsehood, the UPND in Sinazongwe have warned truant members.
This week, sources in Sinazongwe told the Daily Nation that scores of party members in Maamba last weekend booed and jeered their MP, Gift Sialubalo when he visited the area and accused him of abandoning them since he was elected.
Sources said the members were angry that Mr. Sialubalo had neglected the area after they chose him to represent them but the statement has angered district information and publicity secretary George Bbabbi who described it as false. He said the claims were only aimed at discrediting Mr. Sialubalo whom he observed had been frequently visiting the area even in the midst of his tight schedule.
Mr. Bbabbi said the party was aware that there were disgruntled elements who were holding dark corner meetings with officials from other political parties in Choma to discredit and alienate Mr. Sialubalo but warned of grave repercussions of such divisive tendencies, saying the party will crack its whip on rebels.
“This story of Mr. Sialubalo being an absentee landlord in Sinazongwe has been resurfacing from time to time but the truth is that our MP has been very consistent in visiting this constituency and the people who are fighting him are not from outside the party but within and those are the ones concocting stories about him because they have sold their loyalty.
“We are aware that there are disgruntled party members who are frequenting Choma where they are having dark corner meetings with the UPND’s opponents and I want to warn them that it will not take long before we flush them out because they are sell-outs,” Mr. Bbabbi warned.
