Lungu impeachment motion submitted
…PF not moved, says Chanda
A MOTION to impeach President Edgar Lungu has been submitted to the clerk of National Assembly by Mazabuka Member of Parliament, Gary Nkombo and his Patriotic Front counterpart for Roan, Chishimba Kambwili.
According to a copy of the notice of motion of impeachment obtained by the Daily Nation last night, the MPs have also submitted grounds and signatures of one third of the members of the House supporting the motion.
But PF media director Sunday Chanda last night told the Daily Nation that in as much as UPND MPs and Mr. Kambwili were advancing the impeachment motion, it will not see the light of the day, not because of the arrogance of numbers that the ruling party commanded in parliament, but also because it was baseless with ill-intentions.
Mr. Chanda said the PF were not moved by desperate and disgruntled individuals like Mr. Nkombo and Mr. Kambwili who were advancing the impeachment because the duo were political lightweights who were being used as a cat’s pawn by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to remain relevant on the political arena.
“The PF is not moved by this motion because we know that it will not see the light of day not because of the numbers we have in Parliament but because we know that there are other UPND MPs who are going to back us as they do not want to be part of this horde of individuals heralding and supporting a frivolous motion devoid of any solid ground to warrant it.
“By now, people know that Mr. Nkombo is a political lightweight simply working on instructions from Mr. Hichilema. For Mr. Kambwili, he has no option but to align himself to the UPND because that is where his hope of kicking back over misfortunes which he invited for himself,” Mr. Chanda said.
