Youths’ unity hailed
THE Centre for Young Leaders in Africa (CYLA) has hailed youths from different political parties for joining efforts to foster national unity by refusing to be divided based on divergent political views.
In an interview, CYLA executive director Jones Mulunga said it was gratifying that youths from MMD, Rainbow Party, PF, UPND, ADD and NAREP, among other political parties in Lusaka province, had been meeting to foster national unity and co-existence.
Mr. Mulunga said the launch of a CYLA strategy plan in Lusaka last Friday attracted youths who did not agree on everything but came in large numbers for a common good.
He said CYLA’s Programme for Young Politicians in Africa (PYPA) was a useful tool owing to the knowledge provided to young politicians as well as exposure given to different youths from all walks of life.
“The greater task lies ahead in ensuring that we achieve our aims and objective as an organisation.
Though the task may be daunting, we are equal to it because we face it united,” he said. Mr. Mulunga said CYLA was proof of the new generation of political leadership. The civic leader hoped the organisation would ensure youths formed a united front and changed the face of politics in terms of political violence. CYLA is a non-governmental organisation that seeks to mentor youths in their political careers irrespective of their political affiliation.
