IT IS HH NOT LUNGU WHO IS A DICTATOR

-

Dear Editor, I WILL never understand the type of politics Hakainde Hichilema of UPND plays, save for his well-known hatred for President Lungu and the PF government in general.

It is evident to me that HH and other misguided Zambians have never lived under a proper dictatorship.

Because to call President Lungu a dictator, to me HH has simply never come across one in his life and has been a bad reader of history on dictators.

Do names like Mobutu Sese Seko of the then Zaire (Now DR Congo), General Gnassingbé Eyadéma – Togo, Emperor Jean-Bedel Bokassa – CAR, Kamuzu Banda – Malawi, Mengistu Haile Mariam – Ethiopia, Hissene Habre – Chad tell HH something about real dictators?

What I also see in HH is perhaps lack of disposed and shrewd advisors or perhaps he is just an arrogant fellow and cannot take advice from any one. You know the type of “I know it all”.

Most of the time I question myself: Is this man serious about State House. HH appears to have untidy management style. He lacks facts -driven leadership as he always wants to dwell on personalities.

In short, he is devoid of national appeal compared to the founder of UPND Mr Anderson Mazoka (MHSRIEP) who unquestionably was going to be president of Zambia had he lived.

HH should move away from the politics of namecalling. It does not add value to his political dreams. He is quickly becoming a casualty of his own poor way of looking at national issues.

Zambians want to hear from him how he is going to make a difference by assuring them of improved living stands, better economic performance and how he intends to fight poverty in the nation to mention but a few topics.

Surely he can’t be sulking over the 2016 election loss today when he fully knows nothing can change that status.

Even his call to impeach President Lungu for his sheer smutty love to stroll into State House whatever it takes, will not work. He knows this just too well.

Why does he always want to be ‘Mr Talk Tough’? Why does he enjoy an easy ride by provoking crime fear and talking tough all the time about President Lungu and his government?

For me I think Zambians want a kind of a good leader who has a strong vision for the country's future, courage to make unpopular decisions, effective communication skills, character, honesty and integrity.

And frankly speaking who is a dictator between HH and President Lungu, when the latter is in power through the ballot while HH imposed himself on UPND leadership after the death of Mr Mazoka?

UPND has NEVER subjected HH to an election for the same overbearing reasons.

Ask United Liberal Party (ULP) president Sakwiba Sikota who probably knows HH better than most of us, why he refused to re-join UPND after he formed his own party.

May be HH has forgotten that on November 24, 2015 the ‘late’ Post carried a story which quoted him openly declaring “I have decided to go for the UPND presidency because a Lozi person can never win the presidency of the Republic of Zambia – Hichilema

And Mr Sikota replied that Hakainde Hichilema is not honest in his offer of reconciliation because he has failed to deal with tribalism in the party.

Mr Sikota then accused Hichilema of playing to the gallery by using the press without apologising to the people that suffered at the 2006 UPND convention and those who were still affected by the alleged tribalism in the party.

Please HH stop it, and start issue-based politics which can give hope to millions of Zambians. JOSIAH SOKO, Salima Road, Matero
