Lusambo warns ‘randy’ teachers
KABUSHI Member of Parliament (MP) Bowman Lusambo has warned of stern action against any teachers preying on pupils in his constituency.
Mr Lusambo said in Ndola that he had received reports that some teachers were getting into sexual relationships with pupils.
He described the development as unfortunate and has since directed all head teachers to ensure discipline in their institutions
“In the recent address to the nation, President Edgar Lungu bemoaned the moral decay in the country and such developments must be addressed.
“And I want to warn teachers working in the three secondary schools in my constituency that once evidence is established against a teacher, I will not delay to recommend that they be relieved of their duties.
“It is the responsibility of teachers to play a parental role and inculcate morals and values that will bring out a personality that is capable of running government and other businesses in future, “he said.
Mr Lusambo has also directed school heads in secondary schools to expel pupils reported to be involved in illicit affairs with fellow pupils or teachers.
He said that his focus was to ensure an educated community and that he would not leave “any stone unturned.”
And Mr Lusambo has donated over 40 ,000 school books to Milemu, Masala and Lubutu Secondary Schools.
He said the gesture was from President Lungu who was keen to add value to the education system in the country.
He implored teachers at the three schools to utilize information and communication technology (ICT) facilities
The minister further donated K100,000 to Masala Secondary School towards acquisition of paint and 600 pockets of cement .
Mr Lusambo pledged to sponsor pupils’ tuition fees for 16 orphaned children at Masala and Lubuto Secondary Schools out of the 200 registered children. Click here to Reply, Reply to all, or Forward
