Oasis Forum calls for peace at Easter
THE Easter period is a call for every Zambian to be more loving, peaceful and forgiving and give themselves to Christ, says Oasis Forum Chairperson Linda Kasonde.
In a statement, Ms Kasonde said as the world commemorates Easter, there was need for every Zambian including leaders to emulate the selfless and exemplary life of Jesus Christ.
She said Easter was about the great love that God had for people and the selflessness shown through sacrificing his only son for humanity.
“Just like Christ, citizens expect that leaders will love the people and provide selfless leadership that empathises with the weak and vulnerable in society. Jesus was killed by people who were inspired by hatred, violence and the violation of human rights.
“With that in mind, Easter is a call for Zambians to be more loving, forgiving and more respectful of God given rights and sacred life, that is why the Oasis Forum is appealing to all the leaders to use this holy week to reflect om the kind of leadership they are providing to the nation,” she said.
Ms Kasonde said that called also for leaders to ensure the citizens basic needs were met; such as adequate medication in hospitals, quality education system was provided to all regardless of their status in society.
She appealed to the Zambians to celebrate the period responsibly and keep in mind the religious reason for the season.
