Name Lusaka market after Sata - Cosmo
By NATION REPORTER
THE National Revolution Party (NRP) has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to name one of the markets under construction in Lusaka after late Michael Sata as he was the man of the people.
NRP president Cosmo Mumba said late Republican President, Sata was a man of the people who interacted with marketeers as well as common citizens.
Dr. Mumba said it was important that Mr. Sata be remembered as a person who cared for the plight of the poor, adding that President Lungu should consider naming one of the markets in Lusaka after the late President as “Michael Sata Memorial Market”.
In an interview yesterday, he said the call was appropriate as Mr. Sata served Lusaka in various portfolios and Zambia diligently.
“The late President Michael Sata was a man of the people who cared for the plight of the poor particularly marketeers, it is for this reason that as NRP we would like to take this opportunity to earnestly appeal to President Lungu to name one of the markets in Lusaka after him,” he said.
The opposition leader, applauded President Lungu for taking after his predecessor in advancing the agenda of traders through the Presidential Empowerment Fund.
He said it was gratifying that the Head of State was determined to improve the livelihood of marketeers who constituted a large population.
Dr. Mumba said NRP was a party that supported the Patriotic Front (PF) in the 2016 run up to elections and expected all government Ministers to work in line with President Lungu’s vison and development agenda for Zambia.
