Kankoyo MP pledges help for women, youths

- By NATION REPORTER

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Konoye Member of Parliament (MP) Brian Mushimba has pledged to continue providing guidance and empowerment programmes for women and the youth in his constituency in Mufulira.

He said he would do his best to fulfil his campaign promises which included empowering the women and youths in the constituency where poverty levels are high.

Mr Mushimba, who is Transport and Communication Minister, said this when he met residents of Kankoyo, Butondo and Chibolya townships before giving out books donated by President Edgar Lungu to various schools.

"Poverty levels are high in the constituency and so, as area MP, I will try to come up with various programmes aimed at alleviating poverty. The programmes would include empowering youths and women. I have already started the chicken rearing project for women,'' he said.

Mr Mushimba said would not waste time responding to provocative statements from some disgruntled politicians.

"You know what? when a dog is backing at you, you don't waste time throwing stones at the dog because you will not achieve anything, but it will just derail your mission.

"So as a government, our mission is to improve service delivery in various sectors of the economy and also to improve people's lives. So we will not waste time responding to all sorts of malicious campaigns,'' he said

He cautioned the electorate in the constituency not to be misled by former ministers who were expelled from the ruling party.

"I have heard that some people, who were expelled from the party for trying to hijack the party leadership before President Lungu`s term could elapse are coming here to tell you all sorts of lies. I must advise you that they have nothing to offer,” he said.
