Police prosecutor jailed 2 years for corruption
A POLICE prosecutor has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour for corruption involving K 3,000 gratification to conceal a case of rape.
In a statement issued yesterday, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Corporate Affairs, Jonathan Siame said Dominic Chiboboka, 30, of House No. C18, Lundazi Boarding School, a police public prosecutor at Lundazi Police was found guilty by Resident Magistrate Destiny Kalusopa on One Count of Corrupt Practices by a Public Officer.
Mr Siame said the offence was contrary to section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
He said details of the offence are that Chiboboka, in January 2016 in Lundazi, being a Public Officer namely Zambia Police Public Prosecutor based at Lundazi police corruptly solicited for K 3, 000 and actually received K 2, 000 cash from a certain John Nyirenda of Mkawa Village in Lundazi, in order for Chiboboka to facilitate the withdrawal of a case of Rape that he was prosecuting involving Tenthema Nyirenda, a nephew to John Nyirenda.
Mr. Siame said Chiboboka was arrested by the ACC in January this year.
“The Lundazi Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a Prosecutor at the Zambia Police in Lundazi to two (2) years four (4) months Imprisonment with Hard Labour with effect from 23rd March, 2018 for corruption,” he said.
