Kambwili addresses media from hospital bed

- By NATION REPORTER

CHISHIMBA Kambwili who yesterday failed to appear in court to answer to various charges of fraud, managed to address the media from his hospital bed, in a wide ranging interview with Hot FM.

Mr Kambwili complained in a radio interview that police treated him like a common criminal because of the number of officers surrounding the hospital. Mr Kambwili was speaking in an interview with Hot FM Radio in a live broadcast from his hospital bed. He accused the police of locking him up in a place that had no ventilation which contributed to the worsening of his condition. The PF Roan Member of Parliament, whispered that he was treat- ed like a common criminal judging by the number of police officers surrounding him at the hospital as if they were guarding a flight risk criminal. “My rights were infringed and I was grossly abused by the state and the police, I indicated to them that I was coming from the hospital. “I was still sick and needed bed rest but they insisted that I report to the police station where they effected an arrest despite my BP and sugar levels being high,” he said. He added that this is not how we should treat one another, we should respect one’s health because every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. “How can you injure someone and tell them that let me treat your wounds, they made me to be very sick and then they come and say we want to evacuate you, I refused,” he said He said that he has had serious problems concerning his health and no one has ever come to pay for him. He said it is suspicious that government came to assist now. He has however thanked the government for the gesture whether it was in good or bad faith.
