Chinsali –Nakonde road gets US$280m for rehab
THE release of US$280 million dollars to rehabilitate Great North Road from Chinsali to Nakonde shows Government attaches great importance to the equitable allotment of national resources, says PF national youth executive committee Member Muchinga Province Francis Kapyanga.
Mr Kapyanga said it was a clear indication that President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front attached great importance in ensuring that development was taken across the country.
Mr Kapyanga said it was gratifying for the people of Zambia and Muchinga Province to hear that after decades of dilapidation, government had allocated Great North Road from Chinsali to Nakonde US$280 million for rehabilitation.
Mr Kapyanga the rehabilitation works would also provide jobs and opportunities for the local community and contractors.
He called upon the Road Development Agency (RDA) to urgently fully take over and change the modalities of administering the 20 % Sub-contacting for the local contractors.
“Despite this transportation corridor being one of our country's and regional economy's main arteries, connecting the country to the Sea Port of Dar es salaam, it has been in a very dilapidated state pausing serious risks to the transportation of goods, services and human development.
