PULL UP YOUR SOCKS, GYZ TELLS MINISTERS
MINISTERS must wake up from slumber and work hard to prevent the President from doing their jobs on their behalf, Gallant Youth in Zambia executive director Henry Mulenga has said.
Mr Mulenga noted that some ministers were putting more pressure on the Head of State, who had to do their jobs and only appear to be working when there was a directive.
He said President Edgar Lungu should take a radical step and get rid of the non-performing ministers who were not delivering to the expectations of the people.
“It is naive for ministers who are under oath to work to the expectations of the Zambians failing to perform and wait for the President to do jobs for them.
The President has proved to the Zambians that he is a hardworking servant and those who want to let him down should have themselves to blame,” he said.
He said it was sabotage for anyone to subject the President to pressure, even of things that could be done without his directive.
Mr Mulenga said the people of Zambia should not take the advantage of the President’s friendliness and openness, but instead must support and help him for their own benefit.
“At times people take the advantage of his friendliness and this should not be the case, but as citizens we must endeavor to ensure development was brought closer to our communities.
President Lungu is not type of a leader who has vested excessive powers in the hands of one man show but he has an open door for every Zambian to exercise the democracy in the country,” he said.
Mr Mulenga said the Presidency reflected the national identity and should be respected, adding President Lungu had represented the nation well and proved to doomsayers that he was the leader for all Zambians.
