M’membe was hiding behind Post – Cosmo Mumba
WE knew that Fred M’membe was just hiding behind the Post Newspaper and his failure to manipulate President Lungu has finally pushed him to expose his real intentions, National Republican Party President (NRP), president Cosmo Mumba has said.
Mr Mumba said Mr M’membe had finally come to terms with the fact that he had failed to manipulate President Lungu, like he did with other past Presidents.
He said Mr M’membe had always used the Post newspaper to influence his desires, a platform which he no longer had.
“We have always told the Zambian people that Fred M’membe is behind some of these political parties, but some people accused us of lying. Fred M’membe has always been political and now that he has failed to manipulate President Lungu he has just decided to start fighting government in the open,” Mr Mumba said.
He said it was recommendable that Mr M’membe had finally decided to declare his political ambitions unlike hiding his desire for power.
“We welcome Mr M’membe to the political arena and for sure he will find us. It is a good thing that he has finally come out in the open,” Mr Mumba said.
He however warned the Socialist Party against soliciting for funding in a way that caused anarchy and employing unconventional methods of wrestling power.
Mr Mumba said the Socialist Party was recently connected to recruiting military personnel.
He said Mr M’membe should not continue in that direction as it was both illegal and undemocratic.
Mr Mumba said Mr M’membe was already in a compromised state as he had several cases in court and should therefore desist from engaging himself in any illegal activity.
“Mr M’membe should just tread carefully and not involve himself in illegal activity, because it will be defeatist to his new political career which may end up being short,” he said.
