PAZA for specialised reporting
THE Press Association of Zambia (PAZA) has urged Journalists in the country to prioritise specialised reporting for them to effectively disseminate information.
PAZA president Andrew Sakala said in Kitwe that specialised reporting enables Journalists to fully decipher and interpret complex topics to their audiences.
He urged the media houses in the country to consider retraining Journalists in specialised reporting because the profession has become highly dynamic.
“Journalists can undergo specialised training, for instance in economic and financial reporting, and stick to their area of specialisation without being multi-tasked. This way, they can deliver quality work effectively," Mr Sakala said.
He suggested that media houses should introduce health, technology and environmental desks to be handled by highly-skilled jopurnalists.
Mr Sakala said media houses in the country need to invest more in training and capacity building programmes. Reporters are eager to become specialised Journalists in a fields of their interest.
He said that some media houses were making strides in ensuring that reporters particularly handle stories on specific desks without been attached to other desks that were not in line of their specialization.
The PAZA president also noted that some media organisation had low staff levels and faced other logistical constraints, hence were unable to retrain tier journalists
