DC donates to two Mkushi schools

-

By NATION REPORTER MKUSHI District Commissioner (DC) Luka Mwamba has donated building materials to Milombwe and Kangili Primary Schools.

The donation follows the disaster that befell Milombwe Primary School where the one by three classroom block roof was blown off during a heavy down pour.

At Kangili Primary School, the three classroom block floor has deteriorated and the materials would help rehabilitate the floor.

Speaking in interview with the Daily Nation, Mr. Mwamba said he was touched and saddened when he visited Milombwe Primary School and found pupils learning under the tree.

“It is for this reason l have made the donation because l felt touched and l have a social responsibility as a DC to plough back to the community. I have donated seven bags of cement from my own pocket to Milombwe Primary School towards rehabilitation of the roof. I will also make another donation in future for the same purpose.” Mr. Mwamba said.

The DC further said the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) would also donate the remaining two tents to the School to lessen the burden.

Mr. Mwamba said he had already sent the report of the blown off roof to the provincial DMMU under the vice President’s office for action.

He also hailed Parent Teachers Association (PTA) chairman Golden Musonko who is also Upper Lunsemfwa Ward Development Committee (WDC) and School management for hard work as well as for quick action.

He further advised the school authority r to use steel terraces roofing unlike using plunks that would easily be eaten up by termites.

And Mr. Mwamba said he had also donated five bags of cement to Kangili Primary School for rehabilitation of the floor.

Mr. Mwamba said the Patriotic Front (PF) government was working hard to promote education for all.
