UPND not a scary- PF
‘There just a mere regional party’
EMPTY threats by a regional party such as UPND can never shake the Patriotic Front (PF) and we will never make laws to suit one opposition political party, PF deputy media director Antonio Mwanza has charged.
Mr Mwanza said that the opposition UPND was too small to scare PF into succumbing to any of its selfish demands.
He was reacting to UPND threats that the ruling party would not rest as long as the various demands and electoral reforms the opposition party made were not met.
The UPND had demanded for an independent electoral commission, with commissioners recruited by an independent body, speedy issuance of National Registration Cards, and dealing with issues of printing ballot papers among others.
But Mr Mwanza said that the ruling party would not be compelled to support illegalities just to appease the opposition UPND.
He reiterated that the threats by the opposition party to continue tormenting the PF government were baseless.
Mr Mwanza described UPND as a mere regional party which did not have the numbers to successfully carry out any vicious moves.
“Zambia does not belong to UPND, the governance structure cannot depend on what they want. It has to be dependent on what the Zambian people want and reflect their aspirations. Empty threats by a regional party such as UPND can never shake us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Mwanza assured UPND that they would never make it to State House through the back door.
He pointed that the opposition party did have the necessary muscle to threaten the ruling party.
UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma had told the Sunday Nation that the ruling party would continue facing the wrath of UPND until its demands were met.
He vowed that as long as the demands were not met, the PF would continue being under pressure from UPND.
