THUGS ON RAMPAGE

-

only alerted by a good Samaritan who told him his life was in danger as the people he had reported to police for aggravated robbery had invaded the party.

With no means of escape, Mr. Jempa lingered around, waiting for an opportunity to do so before the party ended but that the same person who alerted him whisked him away when an opportunity presented itself, rushed him to his vehicle and pushed him inside before speeding off.

Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Jempa said the criminals would have killed him had it not been for people who recognised them. “If police officers from Kabwata had arrested the judge’s son when I reported the matter, all this would not have happened. My life now is in danger but when I explained this to them, they never took me seriously. “It is clear that these criminals are after my life and will do anything to get rid of me and close the case. From what happened yesterday, one can tell that these people have been trailing me and will not stop at anything until they kill me.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jempa’s case has been transferred from Kabwata police and is now being handled by Lusaka Central following his complaint that the officers who initially handled it were exhibiting levels of inertia in arresting the culprits.

Three weeks ago, the gang, under the command of a judge’s son, stole a laptop, K6, 150 cash and internet gadgets. The same night, the group assaulted him, leaving him almost half dead and stole phones from him.

The aggravated robbery was reported to Kabwata police and officers followed the judge’s son who is also an employee of the Judiciary. Police did not find him at his office and has proved elusive since then.
