Socialist party first blunder

-

Dear Editor

SURELY the Socialist party cannot serious. How do they launch Fred M’membe as its Presidential candidate when he has serious tax issues that led to the closure of his business.

They should have waited for the issues to be resolved before selecting him because the stigma will continue and it is unlikely that Zambians will vote for someone who has such a record.

Tax evasion is a very serious offence anywhere in the world and many people have gone to jail for it. Underestimating such matters is a sign that the party has been in a hurry.

If the truth was to be told, the association of Fred to the party was one of the most poorly kept secrets because everybody knew that the Post was promoting the party.

There is even a suspicion that Wynter Kabimba was fired by President Michael Sata on account of his close association with this party which was exerting undue influence on *overnment.

The party would do well to rethink their decision because wounds are still fresh, people remember how he mistreated second republican President Freder- ick Chiluba.

It will take a lot of time for people to forgive him, considering that all the allegations against Dr. Chiluba were dismissed in court. The judge who presided over the London matter was also found to be of unsound mind.
