Company halts case against LCC
ALLIANCE Media Zambia has discontinued a case in which it had sued the Lusaka City Council (LCC) for breach of contracts when the local authority ordered the removal of its billboard at the Kafue round about.
$llegations are that early 'ecember, 01 , $lliance 0edia Zambia applied to /&& for approval of billboard construction at five roundabouts at various locations.
2n )ebruary 01 , /&& informed the complainant in writing that three sites out of the five locations it had applied for had been approved namely $irport roundabout, .afue roundabout and :oodlands roundabout.
$lliance 0edia Zambia said pursuant to the letter of approval, it proceeded to commence works at the respective sites by engaging contractors in accordance with the conditions set out in the letter of approval.
%ut on 0arch 0 /&& served $lliance 0edia Zambia a stop notice call out relating to the developments at the .afue round about.
)urther on 0arch 1, the complainant met with officials from /&& and e[plained the position regarding the development at .afue roundabout. $t the meeting, $lliance 0edia Zambia was reTuested to remove the installations on the premise due to road e[pansion works that the defendant wished to undertake.
$nd on the same day /&& issued the $lliance 0edia Zambia with a notice of removal the advertising structures on the three roundabouts within seven days despite having granted approval less than a month ago.
$lliance 0edia Zambia said it had written to the relevant officials to resolve the issue considering that it had installed a massive structure at the .afue round about at a huge cost.
