PAZA for specialised reporting
THE Press Association of Zambia 3$=$ has urged -ournalists in the country to prioritise sSecialised resorting Ior them to eIIectively disseminate inIormation.
PAZA president Andrew 6aNala said in Kitwe specialised reporting enables Journalists to fully decipher and interpret complex topics to their audiences.
He urged the media houses in the country to consider retraining Journalists in specialised reporting because the profession has become highly dynamic.
“Journalists can undergo specialised training, for instance in economic and financial reporting, and sticN to their area of specialisation without being multi tasNed. This way, they can deliver Tuality worN effectively, Mr 6aNala said.
He suggested that media houses should introduce health, technology and environmental desNs to be handled by highly sNilled jopurnalists.
Mr 6aNala said media houses in the country need to invest more in training and capacity building programmes. Reporters are eager to become specialised Journalists in a fields of their interest.
He said that some media houses were maNing strides in ensuring that reporters particularly handle stories on specific desNs without been attached to other desNs that were not in line of their specialization.
The PAZA president also noted that some media organisation had low staff levels and faced other logistical constraints, hence were unable to retrain tier journalists
