-

THE Rainbow Party on the &oSSerbelt has urged Solitical parties participating in the forthcoming by election to issue base their campaign messages.

Party provincial spoNesperson 'ennis KapuNulo said it was the responsibility of political players to change the field and perception in the public domain.

Mr. KapuNulo said campaign period presented an opportunity for a political party to sell its ideas to the electorates.

He explained that it was only from an informed mind-set that electorates would made decisions on who to put into office.

He noted that electorates had lost hope in the system because most of those put into office had not brought about development to their respective communities.

"We have proved our seriousness and focus in Zambian politics by taNing part in the forthcoming by - elections in Kansuswa ward in Mufulira district and Luapula ward in Kalulushi district. Our party is not a mouth piece for another political party but a standalone party with complete different ideologies from the existing political parties

“We are going into these elections to tell people issues affecting them and how socialist policies can improve their lives and as the best alternative, we shall also correct the wrong interpretation of socialism,” he said

Mr. KapuNulo stressed that elections come and go and there was no point of causing bloodshed.

He urged electorates in the respective wards hosting elections not to be used as tools of violence.

He appealed to the Copperbelt police command to be on the ground and stop any form of violence

The ECZ has set April 24, for local government elections for the current vacant positions.
