Power, Nkana rivalry return

- By SPORTS REPORTER

THE FAZ/MTN Super League enters week four today with major focus on the top of the bill Kitwe derby between old rivals Power Dynamos and Nkana at Nkana Stadium.

The mining township of Wusakili will be painted red and yellow as Power fans cross from Ndeke in masses to cheer their team, which seeks to consolidate its stay on top of the table, with seven points from three matches played so far. ,t will be the first local derby against Nkana for Power coach Kelvin Kaindu who has warned Kalampa that they will be silenced in their own backyard.

Kaindu, who has so far recorded two wins and a draw to maintain the lead on the log, said in a pre-match interview yesterday that Power will not be under-pressure at Nkana Stadium. Power are coming from a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Kitwe United last Friday while Nkana look to be in shape after humbling National Assembly 2-0 at Woodlands Stadium on the same day.

Last season Power beat Nkana 1 in the first fi[ture but lost 1-0 in the return leg.

“Nkana has a good side but we are not under-pressure, despite being away at Nkana Stadium. We have put the 1-all draw against Kitwe United aside and are looking to collect three points tomorrow (today),” he said.

But his opposite Beston Chambeshi has charged that Nkana will not afford to lose at home. “We are ready for Power, it will be competitive but definitely we need the three points,” he said.

Power striker Alex Ng’onga will be under-pressure to make up for his missed spot kick in Friday’s draw against Chingalika.

The Power defence must be ready for Nkana strikers Idris Mbombo and Walter Bwalya, who are in superb form. Mbombo has already netted four times. ,n other fi[tures, .itwe United host Nakambla Leopards at Garden Park Stadium while Red Arrows are away to Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy in a double header that will see Kabwe Warriors clash against Nchanga Rangers.

Napsa Stars will be home at Sunset Stadium against Lusaka Dynamos, while New Monze Swallows will take on Green Eagles in Monze.
