Shut up, ZDDM tells ‘disgruntled’ politicians

- By NATION REPORTER

IT is sad that some disgruntled politicians are peddling lies that some renowned prophets had prophesied doom against President Edgar Lungu, the Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) has charged.

ZDDM president Edwin Sakala yesterday told the Daily Nation that the level of mediocrity among some politicians in Zambia was alarming, adding that with so much desperation to rule the country, such people would even kill their opponents just to be in leadership.

Mr. Sakala said it was sad that some politicians had resorted to link certain men of God to their usual lies regarding the fate of President Lungu, adding that they were only inviting curses upon themselves.

He said it was sad that some self-proclaimed better leaders wanting to lead a Christian nation would resort to such desperate manoeuvres of dragging the clergy in their lies with reckless disregard to the effects of such behaviour.

He said the same people who wished President Lungu dead since he was elected as Republican President had continued with their allegations and wishful thinking without realising that even in the case that their wish came to pass, they would never govern the country as there would be no presidential by-election as the case was under the old constitution.

“We now have a situation where some politicians are so full of hatred that they are now accusing prophets of having predicted President Lungu’s death. One of the prophets they have abused time and again is prophet Bushiri even when he has never made such prophecies. However, this will only boomerang right on their faces because lying against men of God only brings curses upon oneself.

“Those who wish President Lungu dead can die before him. There is need for us to practice mature politics devoid of malice, mudslinging, and hatred because we are a Christian nation whose values must be held in high esteem by those who are seeking public office. Politics must be taken as a service to the people and not a conduit through which one can enrich himself. When we come to this realisation, we will also appreciate that there can only be one president at a time,” Mr. Sakala said.

He said Zambians must never allow bitter politicians whose preoccupation was to be in power by hook or crook to rule the country as doing so will create more problems once such disgruntled elements formed Governmnet as they will shut themselves to any external advice.
