Chief Chisomo hails State over new road
CHIEF Chisomo of Serenje has hailed government for embarking on construction of Chisomo-Serenje road.
In an interview, Chief Chisomo said the government’s gesture should be commended and had come at the right time and in the right direction.
He said the move would go a long way in accelerating development in the area because no meaningful development could take place without a good road network.
Chief Chisomo noted that his chiefdom had been neglected for a long time in terms of infrastructure development such as roads, hence the need for government to be hailed for considering the area for the road project.
He said the contractor had already started remedial works like erection of culverts on bridges such as Lukusashi among other things.
The Chief added that fullfledged construction works were expected to start after the rain season.
“We really thank government for considering working on Chisomo-Serenje road which has been in a deplorable state and neglected for decades. The development is welcome and we hope that this marks the beginning of meaningful development of the area. We appreciate and thank government for this move,” Chief Chisomo said.
The traditional ruler further praised Central province permanent secretary Chanda Kabwe, who visited the area and paid a courtesy call on him, for being in the forefront of initiating the road project.
He also praised area Councilor Peter Mukosha for his hard work and for taking a leading role in initiating development projects in the chiefdom.
