…Its attacks on Janet Rogan are very sad and utterly stupid
THE United Party for National Development (UPND) attacks on Janet Rogan, a senior United Nations (UN) official stationed in Zambia is very sad and utterly stupid, former UPND vice president for politics, Canisius Banda has charged.
Dr Banda was reacting to UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema’s accusations that Ms Rogan helped the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) rig the 2016 elections.
Dr Banda wondered what kind of madness that had now engulfed the opposition party to levels such as accusations against the representative of a very respectable organisation.
“To say that Janet Rogan worked with the PF to rig elections in Zambia two years ago, and that she now is working with the same PF to disadvantage the opposition in Zambia is the same as saying that the UN is against the UPND and the opposition in Zambia. Now what madness is this?” Dr Banda questioned.
He said that the UPND's attacks on Ms Rogan were very sad and utterly extremely stupid.
He reiterated that the accusations clearly illustrated the amazing depths to which human desperation and folly could get.
Dr Banda pointed out that the UPND had now lost the requisite presence of mind for judicious conduct in their blind quest for power.
“Here is the UPND, the same party that wants the Commonwealth to broker dialogue in Zambia mistrusting and discrediting an international body which is far larger, more credible and significant, and more powerful than the Commonwealth,” he said. He said that the opposition party was so paranoid that it viewed anyone or any organisation that was acting objectively and impartially as an enemy.
