Stay away, UPND told

- By NATION REPORTER

THOSE who are not interested in the dialogue should be left out instead of wasting people’s time on the issues that do not yield a positive results for the benefit of the nation, says Christian Coalition Secretary General John Mwendapole.

However, UPND has insisted that the proposed dialogue will collapse if the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) is allowed to hijack a process they did not start but let the Commonwealth take the leading role.

UPND Secretary General, Stephen Katuka however told Daily Nation that the opposition party had not yet decided what action to take if ZCID was handed the leading role for the process. Mr Mwendapole noted that the much talked about dialogue should not only involve politicians but the entire nation so that citizens would be able to share their views.

He said those who were not interested or ready for the dialogue should let go, due to the fact that there was no crisis in Zambia adding that only few disgruntled individuals wanted to portray the country as if it was in total mess.

Mr Mwendapole said the dialogue does not outline any agenda, saying it should not be restricted to only politicians who knew what they wanted.

With this crop of politicians we have with antagonism and all sort of behaviour, dialogue will still be ideal without the involvement of other stakeholders, this may just waste our time,” he said.

But Mr Katuka said, “ZCID should not be lead, it is not their idea, and they did not start it even if we are all members. Even African businesses do not succeed after the father dies because it is a plan for your father.
