35 DITCH UPND, JOIN PF IN MUSHINDAMO
By NATION REPORTER
THIRTY-FIVE members of the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) have ditched their party to join the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Kalilele ward in Mushindamo district in North Western Province.
This came to light during a public rally at Kingovwa grounds addressed by PF provincial women’s league secretary Emma Mukokwe.
Headman Chingwala who led the defectors regretted his stay in the opposition political party describing it as a sheer waste of time.
He said the opposition had been giving false hope to the people by cheating them that it will form government.
‘’we have been brainwashed for too long and we can’t continue being brainwashed because right after the August 2016 general elections, they have been giving us false hope that they will form government which we have not seen up to now,’’ the traditional leader said.
He said the people have now come to know how trickery the UPND was adding that with such tendencies, the party had no chance of forming government.
He accused the UPND leadership of being tribal, regional and dictatorial.
“And this has trickled down to the lower ranks of the party leadership. When you look at the leadership at provincial, district, constituency including ward level, there is total arrogance and dictatorial tendencies by those in leadership positions,” he said.
He also accused the member of parliament for Solwezi East Leaky Kintu and the council chairperson Lackson Mulumbi of being absentee leaders.
“We are regretting for having voted for these people who have no heart for the people,” he added
He urged the people in the area to join and start supporting the ruling PF because the UPND has nothing to offer.
