High morality key in public service

-

By NATION REPORTER COPPERBELT Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe has called on the clergy to work with government and help promote Christian and moral values among all public officials and members of the public.

In an interview with the Daily Nation in Ndola, Mr Nundwe said the clergy should work with government in promoting morality as well as instilling Christian values.

He noted that Zambia was a Christian nation, hence the call on the clergy to counsel and impart wisdom in public officials and members of the public.

The Permanent Secretary observed that integrity and morality are important hallmarks for public workers.

The Government, he said, was desirous to ensure Christian values and morality transcended narrow interest.

Mr Nundwe said the Church must thus join in the crusade for high moral and Christian values in the conduct of public affairs in the country.

He said the clergy had also the ability to promote unity as the country was in a hurry to honestly deliver economic and social development.

“Men of God are very vital in promoting unity among people in the country and by lecturing us, and praying for the leadership of the country, disputes and misunderstandings will cease to exist. “The clergy should feel free to visit our offices to counsel us, make suggestions and advise us on issues of morality,” he said
