Zambia to grow trade ties with DR Congo
ZAMBIA is seeking to increase its trade volume with neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), says Mwansabombwe district commissioner Victor Kasuba.
In an interview, Mr Kasuba said Zambia was currently exporting various goods to DR Congo including food stuffs.
He said that was partly because of the cordial bilateral relations that the two countries were enjoying.
Mr Kasuba said that a Zambian government delegation would be traveling to DR Congo for bilateral talks in an effort to further trade relations.
“A team of government officials will be meeting in Ndola and later on proceed to DR Congo for bilateral talks. As you may be aware Zambia and Congo have been sharing warm relations for a long time.”
He said the planned talks would be held in Lubumbashi.
He said while in that country, President Edgar Lungu’s team would also engage the Kinshasa government on other issues affecting the people in both countries.
And Mr Kasuba said Mwansabombwe district was receiving a fair share of development.
He said government was currently implementing various development projects in the newly created district.
“We are excited that President Edgar Lungu is including us, the people of Mwansabombwe in his development agenda,” said Mr Kasuba.
