$320,000 needed for conference hall
US$320,000 will be spent on the construction of a conference hall at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the support of People’s Republic of China with sitting capacity of one hundred, says Foreign Affairs Minster Joseph Malanji.
Mr Malanji said Zambia and the People’s Republic of China have been cooperating through the framework of forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which the two countries have agreed to cooperate in various sectors with view to expanding the already existing bilateral cooperation.
Speaking in Lusaka yesterday at the ground breaking at the ministry, Mr Malanji said there were some major milestone projects that implemented outside and under the FOCAC framework like various road infrastructure development projects across the country such as Link Zambia 8000, L400 and the C400.
Mr Malanji said the construction of a new terminal and runway at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Ndola, communication towers under smart Zambia Project phase 1and 11, satellite television facilities in rural part of f Zambia among other projects.
Mr Malanji also said the 200 million Agreement on the 2016 Economic and Technical grant for the expansion of the Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital which will increase bed capacity from 239 to 826.
Mr Malanji however said the Zambian Government and his ministry is honored by the gesture from the Republic of China of donating towards the construction f of a conference hall.
And outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Mr Youming said China and Zambia have been cooperating in terms of Infrastructure development such as housing Infrastructure, office building, road infrastructure development among many and it will continue to support each other as mutual call.
