Chiurch commend State on progress
BISHOP Charles Kasonde of Solwezi Catholic Diocese has commended Government for taking development to all parts of the country without segregation.
Bishop Kasonde said the development that is taking place in the country is tangible and there for everyone to see.
He said it is for this reason that the church shall continue to supplement government efforts in uplifting the lives of people across the country.
“And as a church we shall continue to work together because, we supplement the efforts of the government which is in charge of the welfare of the citizens,” Bishop Kasonde said.
Bishop Kasonde was speaking when North-Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu called on him at his office yesterday.
He said the task of the Catholic Church is to identify the importance of the government and it’s orientation towards service delivery.
He said as a developing country, there are things that the government may not meet easily hence the decision by the church to extend its goodwill to places that may not meet their target.
Bishop Kasonde appealed to Government to expedite the process of upgrading selected urban roads in Solwezi to bituminous standard.
He said despite the contract being awarded to China Geo Corporation about two years ago, no major works have been done on the project.
And Mr Mubukwanu assured the Bishop that Government shall address the concerns raised.
He commended the Catholic Church for the good works it has continued to do for the people.
Mr Mubukwanu said the Patriotic Front government is resolved to deliver development to the expectations of the people.
