THE traditional leadership in Chavuma have praised government for giving them an opportunity to participate in the decision making process at local level.

Speaking on behalf of other traditional leaders in the district, Sub-Chief Sanjongo said traditional leaders have in the past made several attempts to be included in the delivery of development and are grateful that government has given three sub-chiefs an opportunity to sit on the council as civic leaders. Chavuma Town Council chairman Victor Kashika noted that the council has been running its affairs for some time without the representation of traditional leaders who he said are cardinal in the development of the district.

Mr. Kashika said government recognises the important roles traditional leaders play in the implementation of government policies and national stability.
