CHIMWEMWE PF WARDS RISE AGAINST MP
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) party leaders in Chimwemwe constituency in Kitwe have risen against area Member of Parliament (MP) Mwila Mutale for allegedly disregarding them despite President Edgar Lungu calling for reconciliation between the Independent MPs and the party.
The ward leaders from Buntungwa, Lubuto, Itimpi, Kawama, Racecourse and Chimwemwe, said Mr Mutale's action of not involving PF leaders in his activities were a clear indication that he had no regard for them.
However, efforts to get Mr Mutale, who is Independent MP, failed as his phone went unanswered and did not equally respond to text andWhatsApp messages.
At a heated meeting at the Civic Centre, ward leaders said the divisive tendency by the MP would retard development in the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the six ward chairmen, Buntungwa ward chairman Stanslous Mwewa said they were disappointed that the MP decided to donate books from President Lungu without involving the ward officials.
He said Mr Mwila only involved the constituency chairman Alfred Kaira and a Mr Emmanuel Sampa ignored ward leaders in Chimwemwe constituency
"Following President Lungu's counsel that we reconcile, we have embraced our MP despite him being an independent, but his conduct is very contrary. He has no regard for party structures, except for MrKaira and Mr Sampa.
"We have been ignoring him for some time, but today we thought we should voice out because he cannot go to give out books from our President without involving the ward structures.
This is total disregard of the party structures which even President Lungu cannot tolerate," Mr Mwewa said.
The sentiments from the ward chairmen were supported by the five ward ouncillors present, namely, Mpasa Mwaya of Itimpi ward, Race-Course`s Michael Mbulo, Bonny Kaonga of Kawama ward, William Nyirenda, Buntungwa ward and Kateule Mulenga of Lubuto ward. The councillors accused the MP of playing dangerous games aimed at antagonizing them with the people in their wards by claiming to be caring for them more than the councillors were doing.
And District vice-chairman Evaristo Chilufya advised the MP to embrace all party leaders as he carries out activities in the constituency.
