Lozi row rages

-

By NATION REPORTER THE Litunga has the right to install any chief in Western Province and those against him and the Barotse Royal Establishment are the ones in conflict with the law, says induna Simon Mukwanga, representing installed Edward Kahare

Induna Mukwanga said the installation of Edward Kahare as Chief Kahare of the Nkoya people of Nkeyema district by the Litunga was constitutional.

He said those who do not want to follow the right procedure would have themselves to blame, saying the group calling itself Nkoya Royal Council was illegal and flouting the law of the land.

The traditional leader charged those who were using shortcuts to satisfy their ego should not blame the government and BRE on their failure but instead should blame themselves.

Induna Mukwanga has since called on the security personnel to arrest the people who were inciting chaos, through their disparaging statements aimed at dividing the nation.

“These are the same people who are bringing confusion between the ethnics group in the province and they think everyone should tolerate this?

The Chiefs Acts states that in Western Province no one becomes a chief unless that person is recognised and installed by the Litunga,” he explained.

He said the same people had been putting their case in court without merit, which was why their cases were thrown out.

“The Chiefdom is not for one family, but all the members of the royal family are entitled to leadership positions depending on the traditional lineage,” he said.
