SDA rallies behind govt
THE Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church says it will continue working with government in preserving peace and unity in addition to promoting Christian values in the country.
SDA Copperbelt Conference president Webster Chabe said in Ndola that the Adventists will continue to support government despite recent concerns raised about a member of the `Dorcas Mother` who recently used derogatory remarks against President Edgar Lungu.
A member of the SDA`s Dorcas Mother was shown in church uniform live on a private television station, passing invectives against the Head of State.
The matter infuriated some Patriotic Front (PF) members who demanded an apology from the SDA.
But Dr Chabe said the SDA was fully committed to civility and national cohesion, maintaining that the sentiments from the woman were not representative of the SDA Church.
He said this during a courtesy call on Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe at the provincial offices.
Dr Chabe noted that it was sad that some members of the church decided to speak ill of the President instead of promoting unity and peace in the country.
He said the visit to the provincial minister was important and meant to clear the air on the matter as well as to promote unity between the government and the church.
And Ndola Christian Ministers Fellowship Reverend Chairperson Chilekwa Mulenga acknowledged the need for the church and government to work together.
