- By NATION REPORTER

BUILDCON Zambia the company contracted to conduct road works on the Solwezi Chingola road has donated assorted items valued at K300,000 to the Ministry of Health in Mushindamo.

The items include, mattresses, beds, bed sheets and blankets.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at St Dorothy Health Centre, Buildcon Zambia Chief Executive Officer Moses Mubanga said the firm was duty bound to plough back to the community where it operates from in line with its corporate social responsibility programme.

Mr Mubanga said the focus of the company was centred on human development hence the decision to donate the items to the ministry.

He said without health personnel, it was not possible to develop the country.

“The importance of our business will not be measured by the profits we make but our contribution to the development of human kind hence the decision to shift our attention from profits to human development,’’ Mr Mubanga said.

And receiving the items, North Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu said the gesture was a clear indication of the collaboration between government and private sector in improving the welfare of the people.

Mr Mubukwanu said health care provision was a major priority of the Patriotic Front government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.

He said to this effect, government was committed to providing quality health services that will guarantee prolonged life.

He said one of the five pillars in the seventh national development plan evolved around the improvement of health care.

‘’This intervention means that the people of Mushindamo are going to be very productive because they will be provided with not only good but quality health services,’’ Mr Mubukwanu said.
