Power outages disrupt MUZ milling ops

By NATION REPORTER CONSTANT power disruption­s is a major challenge in the operations of the Mineworker­s Union of Zambia (MUZ) milling plant in Chambishi Kalulushi district.

MUZ general secretary Joseph Chewe said Chambishi was experienci­ng power supply dis ruption very often which was adversely affecting the operations at the K25 million plant whose production started in January, this year.

He said plans were under way to open up a milling plant in the North-western province while the union would revive operations at its farm in Mufulira so that it could produce maize to be processed at the milling plant

"The establishm­ent of the milling plant will be followed up by a number of developmen­ts and one of them, would be the revival of our farm in Mufulira to produce maize for the milling plant. There are other programmes that would be followed," he said
