UPND crying foul over 2016 polls to please funders says Avap

- By NATION REPORTER

LEADERS in the UPND are genuinely aware that they lost the 2016 Presidential elections, but have continued to cry foul to please their funders, AntiVoter Apathy Project (AVAP) Copperbelt coordinator Poster Jumbe has said.

Mr Jumbe said in an interview in Kitwe that the UPND has always been crying foul so that their financiers could believe that they were robbed of victory.

He said UPND fears to lose the support and confidence of those who were funding them.

"Yes, they could lose the support and confidence of those who were funding them because there is no way, they could continue to support a political party that has conceded defeat in the five elections without giving reasons for losing," Mr Jumbe said.

He said certain conditions being giving to some political parties were harsh and so this was why some political parties were panicking and becoming emotional when they lose elections.

Mr Jumbe said getting funding from friends and sympathizers from other countries was a sensitive issue and this was why AVAP was supporting the law which would compel any political party to disclose their source of funding.

"We are supporting the law which would compel political parties to disclose their source of funding because they may be receiving money from evil sources. I mean blood money," He said.

He cautioned Zambians to be wary of politicians who wanted to use “blood” money to ascend to power.

He also said it was disappointing that, some opposition politicians had opted to engage in name-calling instead of waiting patiently for the 2021 elections.

He said politicians and Zambians in general, should not use democracy to insult leaders or issue careless statements in the media, but use to respect those in authority and engage in positive and constructive dialogue.

"Democracy is not insulting those in authority or issuing statements that aim at inciting people to rise against the government,” he said.
