STOP CHASING PUPILS OVER UNIFORMS, KASEMPA TEACHERS WARNED
By NATION REPORTER KASEMPA District Commissioner Goodson Sansakuwa has advised school managers in the area to stop chasing pupils without uniforms from school.
In an interview, Mr. Sansakuwa said chasing the learners from school on such grounds will deny them their fundamental right to education.
He said the free education policy, from grade one to seven, is still effective in public schools, hence the need for teachers shared not chase affected pupils.
He said it is sad that teachers are chasing pupils without uniforms even when they know that some pupils come from vulnerable families. “I have noted with concern that our teachers in the district are chasing pupils who do not have uniforms. This tendency should come to an end with immediate effect because it is disadvantaging pupils that come from vulnerable families,” Mr. Sansakuwa said. He further appealed to all school managers in the district to stop charging pupils school fees. Mr. Sansakuwa said the free education policy should be followed as outlined in the Patriotic Front (PF) Manifesto.
He noted that many children dropped out of school due to lack of user fees being charged by school managers without government’s knowledge.
He warned the teachers in question that government will deal with them without hesitation.
