Nkoya prince rejects ‘imposed’ chief
By NATION REPORTER THE newly installed Nkoya chief by the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) Edward Kahare is an adopted son who does not qualify to be part of the traditional lineage in the Nkoyaland, Prince Timuna has charged.
7imuna, a 1koya prince from &hief .ahare¶s chiefdom, told the 'aily 1ation in a walk in interview that it was unacceptable to impose an adopted child as a chief when they were right people to inherit the throne.
+e claimed that Mr (dward .ahare was only supported by a group of people with financial muscle, a situation he said was disadvantaging indigenous 1koyas.
³,nfact Mr (dward .ahare is not .ahare but .abinda, he got this .ahare name from our village where he was adopted, and we could not chase an adopted son,” he said.

+e wondered why the installed chief .ahare has not been taken to the palace where he was supposed to be and discharge his duties.
Mr .ahare said the imposed chief should go and find his own chiefdom, adding the current chief, 6tanford Mayowe was installed by the community and that no one who should remove him.
³:e are not going to tolerate this play game by some few individuals who were supporting the wrongs when they know where the source of conflict is coming from,” he said.
