PF IS INDEED A TRIED AND TESTED PARTY TO RECKON WITH

-

Dear Editor

THE Bembas say"Imiti ikula empanga" and their tradition cousins allude similarly that ‘Ng’ombe ni matole’ which literally translates that for any organisation or tradition to grow and be maintained, the youths must be given the mantle.

In a like manner, it is argued that politics is about numbers and the just ended local by -elections were seen as a litmus test for the popularity of the ruling Patriotic Front(PF).

This statement was made by a senior opposition UPND MP. Out of the total 16 by elections at ward level, PF scooped a whopping 13 leaving 3 for the opposition UPND.

As usual, the people of Zambia have spoken through the ballot and as expected the UPND is crying foul that PF used pangas to threaten voters, but are very quiet when in Monze -Mwanza ward where a PF candidate got 3 while UPND candidate amassed a gigantic 9500+ votes.

So from these results can we say that the PF is still popular and is the people’s choice?

The UPND is now crying that let 2021 come that is when they will teach PF a lesson. That is one way of hiding shame without losing a face.

It is said that a journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step, and that step is the ward elections.

One cannot climb a tree from branches, you start from the trunk all the way up to the leaves.

May I congratulate the ruling PF for a job well done and UPND for scooping some wards.

Credit must also go to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for putting up a spirited fight though they miserably lost.

So what has the litmus test proved? UPND learn to accept defeat and change your campaign strategies.

Otherwise another big loss is awaiting you in 2021.
