Mulongoti is desperately hungry – Cosmo Mumba

- By NATION REPORTER

PEOPLES PARTY president Mike Mulongoti gave me K200 for fuel to go plead with late President Michael Sata to give him a job, says National Revolution party (ZRP) President, Cosmo Mumba.

However, Mr Mulongoti has insisted that he was not bitter or hungry. He told the Daily Nation in an Interview that he was not true that he was hungry and impoverished. Mr Mumba said it was not strange for Mr Mulongoti to be frustrated for not being given a job by President Lungu as he had for a long time been trying to get a government job. Mr Mumba told the Daily Nation in an interview that Mr Mulongoti had false hope that the UPND would give him a job if they got into power. Reacting to Mr Mulongotis recent allegations against President Lungus nationality Mr Mumba said Mr Mulonngoti was being petty and practicing politics of the belly. He said there was no doubt that Mr Mulongoti was a very desperate individual as he had been trying to get a job for a long time now. He said Mr Mulongoti was a finished politician who was working for the UPND to ensure that the current government did not govern normally. “I know Mr Mulongoti very well. He has been very desperate since he left the MMD, he even gave me a K200 for fuel to present his desire to be given a job to President Sata, ”he said. Mr Mumba said there was no doubt that Mr Mulongoti was trying to please the UPND as it was clear that the Peoples Party was a failed project. He said since Mr Mulongoti was expelled from the MMD he was destitute and was eager to associate himself with other politicians who were prominent. Mr Mumba said Mr Mulongoti was in fact a fraud as he was making baseless accusations for selfish gains. He said it was not unusual for a man of Mr Mulongotis character to make allegations based on personal gains. At the weekend, another man accused Mr Mulongoti of being hungry and bitter because he was not given a government job by President Lungu. In a walk-in interview, Leonard Chilufya, who campaigned alongside Mr Mulongoti for President Lungu in 2015, said the People’s Party (PP) leader joined the PF Presidential campaign team in the hope of getting either a ministerial position or diplomatic appointment. “I was in the Presidential campaign team in 2015 when Mr Mulongoti joined us. We started moving together with him and he was expecting that after campaigning for President Lungu, he would be appointed as minister or diplomat to redeem his personal life. He has waited and now he is tired. “When I met him last year he told me that he has waited for a long time and that President Lungu had neglected him. I challenged him that there was no need for the President to reward everyone who campaigned for him and in response he said he too wanted to eat,” Mr Chilufya said.
