Kasama by-election candidates advised
KASAMA Town clerk Zakeyo Mbao has urged aspiring candidates for the June 5 local government elections to abide by the electoral rules.
Speaking during a media briefing Mr Mbao who is district electoral officer, stressed the need for all aspiring candidates for all political parties to ensure that they put their documents together ahead of the nominations day slated for May 3 2018.
This is contained in a press statement released Nancy Chenga, public relations officer for Kasama Municipal Council.
Mr Mbao also warned aspiring candidates not to be involved in any form of violence before, during, and after the election period.
He explains that the Electoral process act Act no.35 of 2016 clearly states that all participating political parties must establish and maintain effective lines of communication with the commission and other registered political parties and candidates.
The town clerk also appealed to candidates to accept and respect decisions of the commission in respect of election results announced by the returning officers and the commission in accordance with the law.
The nominations will take place on may 3 2018 at gazetted nomination centres namely Mulobola and Chilufya Primary Schools in Kasama.
The ward elections are slated for June 5 2018 in Musowa and Chumba wards in Kasama district.
