Stop whining, opposition told

-

By NATION REPORTER PROVIDE evidence of corruption in Government or stop whining and hallucinating about imaginary wrong-doing by those in power, PF in Southern Province has chided opposition leaders.

PF provincial information and publicity secretary Trymore Mwenda said the ruling party in the province was disappointed that with unsubstantiated claims by certain individuals of corruption yet they had failed to provide any evidence.

“The ruling PF in Southern Province would like to register it's disappointment with continued unsubstantiated claims by some opposition political parties that President Edgar Lungu is harbouring corrupt Ministers in his Government.

“The Party is of the view that it is middle class politics to embark on smear campaigns merely aimed at tarnishing the name of the President and that of his Government, that they are engaged in corruption without providing evidence,” Mr Mwenda said.

He said opposition political players who were in the habit of frequenting media houses to issue these irresponsible statements should stop media prosecution, but provide evidence of their claims to the relevant investigation wings.

“We are therefore challenging the opposition parties to stop their smear campaign because it has the potential to derail the attention of Zambians from engaging in productive issues.

“It is unbelievable and sad that some opposition leaders like All People’s Congress Party (APC), president Nason Msoni can issue an ultimatum to President Lungu to fire alleged corrupt ministers without providing evidence,” he said. He said such politicians should not be entertained as President Lungu was too busy to be bothered by baseless and empty ultimatums issued by opposition political party leaders without direction.

He said the PF in Southern Province would continue to support and defend President Lungu from baseless attacks, as the party was aware that the Head of State had declared zero tolerance to corruption.
