Proflight pledges tourism boost
PROFLIGHT has expressed commitment to supporting the tourism sector in Zambia by reducing airfares to coincide with the upcoming safari season. The safari season runs from May to September every year. Proflight director of government and industry affairs, Philip Lemba said in a statement released in Lusaka that the special promotional deal was on Lusaka-Mfuwe and Lusaka-Kasama flights. Captain Lemba noted that tourism was a huge industry in Zambia with the potential to become the country’s most dependable source of income. He said in order for Zambia to attain this status there was need for dynamically promoted travel products. He observed that true domestic tourism could only be encouraged through promotions that encouraged more people to go sightseeing. “We have the safari season coming up and to celebrate its start, we are offering a great discount. This is a great way of encouraging people to actually explore Zambia and its many delights. “The airline, in its efforts to boost tourism in the country, has come on board to help domestic tourism through the introduction of more discounted and promotional flights,” he said. He said Kasama and Mfuwe had become top destinations with tourism and business activities increasing over the years. “Kasama, the capital of the Northern Province, has benefited from infrastructure and industry development that is creating vast opportunities for locals and tourists alike and Kasama Airport is currently undergoing an upgrade to accommodate larger aircrafts. “Mfuwe is such a beautiful place that National Geographic recently hailed it, placing it in their top 10 amazing trips to make in the autumn of 2017,” he added.
